During Fall 2019, our schedule is:
St. Mike’s Chapel
6586 Picasso Road
Isla Vista, CA 93117
Sept. 18th 2019
Joel Feigin will be traveling for a while. The meditation group will continue, facilitated by Margarita Juteki Delcheva, starting September 24th, 2019.
Many of you know that Kimu has moved to Riverside, so she won’t be able to lead Ocean Mist any more, and that the group has been “on hold” for a bit. But now, Kimu, working with Sensei Koan, has chosen Joel Feigin to lead the group for now. Joel is a long-time Zen practitioner; in September, he was ordained a Zen priest by Sojun Mel Weitsman Roshi, and given the dharma name Kyoshin Jokyo. He’s also a recovering professor, recently retired from UCSB, where he taught composition in the Music Department.
Joel is authorized to give zazen (meditation) instruction to beginners. If you are new to meditation it would be best to contact Joel ahead of time to set up a convenient time to meet. You can reach him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If that doesn’t work, come anyway!
The group will meet at the usual time and place on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 6:30 at St. Mike’s (6586 Picasso Road, Isla Vista). The next meeting will be on February 28. Looking forward to seeing you!
